What is a butt hinge and why do I need one?

As one of the more utilized embedded hinges, the butt hinges are typically manufactured at about 6 inches or less. They have multiple uses and have been installed for a variety of applications. Typically, docking hinges are used to install and operate doors on commercial properties and residences.

The docking hinges are usually made up of two matching leaves. One is usually connected to a fixed component, such as a door frame, and the other is usually connected to a moving component,such as a door. In the closed position, the hinge leaves of the docking will remain flush with each other, revealing only the curly barrel (often referred to as the knuckles).

They are manufactured in a variety of finishes and materials, including aluminum, galvanized steel, galvanized steel, hot and cold steel and stainless steel.
